Two people have made possibly the most important decision of their lives – to get married.

But where? 

Tobermory is one of the most popular wedding destinations on the west coast of Scotland. The waterfront view of brightly coloured shops and houses provide a romantic setting for any couples special day. These pages aim to be the first step in planning the perfect island wedding.

A Registrar can now go anywhere to marry two people, although the ceremony room in our County Buddings is still widely used.

Ceremony Room in Tobermory County Buildings

The Ceremony Room is situated within the County Buildings in Tobermory on Breadalbane Street. The room was previously the Magistrates Court Room and comfortably seats 45 people and has a stunning view over Tobermory Bay, Sound of Mull and the hills of Morvern and Ardnamurchan. The ceremony room can be used for the following:

Civil Marriages
Reaffirmation of Vows
Citizenship Ceremonies
Naming Ceremonies

Registrars are now authorised to conduct weddings outwith the Registry Office.   Changes in law means that myself or one of my assistants can conduct ceremonies anywhere on the island, be it a lovely beach your back garden, house, castle even up Ben More if the weather permits, we will try and comply with any reasonable request.

Annually figures for civil marriages on the island are on the increase. Couples travel from all parts of the world to be married on our beautiful island.

At present the costs are as follows:

Publication of Marriage Notice Forms (M10) £30 each

Marriage Extract £10.00

Solemnisation of Civil Marriage £55.00

Use of Marriage room for 6 people or more £81.90

Additional Saturday fee £164.45

Temporary approval  licence £281.20

Extra charge for outside marriages from £137.00 plus travelling

Remote places & vessels on Scottish waters £450.10
